Everyone loves to save a little money, and I'm going to tell you how you can do just that by lowering your water bill. It's easier than you might think, little things like the temperature of your water heater can up the bill without needing to.
1. Check your toilets! Your toilet already accounts for nearly half of the water used in your home, so make sure it's not leaking or running. Either of those two things can up your water bill by anywhere from $10-$100.
2. Turn your water heater down. Having your water heater higher than it needs to be will make your bill a lot higher than it needs to be.
3. Check for pipe leaks regularly. How do you do that? It's easy! Check your meter when no water is being used, then check the meter eight hours later. If the difference is abnormal, you might have a leak.
4. Changing your shower head and sink filters can lower your water usage right away.
5. Pay attention to water running slowly or incorrectly, this could indicate a leak somewhere.
6. Simply pay attention to how high you turn the water on, if you don't need to turn it on super high then don't. It may not seem like much, but that small difference will lower your overall water usage each month, and, in turn, how much you have to pay.
Start using these simple tips and watch your water bill drop!
